Blue and Gold Macaw (Psittacus ararauna)

The Blue and Gold Macaws are large birds. The head, back, and wings have a blue-green color and the sides of their neck is outlined in black the frontal body plumage is yellow-gold with a whitish skin face 'mask'.  They originate from Central America to South America.  They require much attention, and can talk.  They require large space due to their size and relative cage.  They are very demanding and have a tendency to become aggressive or pluck if left alone for too long periods of time or neglected (as with most parrots).  Although they are common in forests in parts of their range they have declined in numbers or disappeared altogether from accessible regions.  Currently the status on this species is considered threatened.
